Foundation Assists with Fire Safety Upgrade

The fire alarm panel for the main hospital facility was installed in 1994. In 2001, when the hospital had its last construction and expansion, the maximum number of alarm connections for the panel was reached. To ensure public safety into the future a new system was needed to provide a more stable, reliable and flexible system with additional fire alarm connections, and the modern features of state-of-the-art technology.

The Foundation stepped in to help make it happen. With a $5,000 grant award from the Puget Sound Energy Foundation and $20,000 approved by our Foundation’s Board of Directors to assist in the purchase, the Hospital was able to move forward with this priority safety issue.

According to Plant Operations manager Troy Holmes, the new panel was carefully chosen to meet safety and expansion needs. It provides 10 times the number of connections of the previous system. The modular control panel platform is uniquely designed to address all the diverse hospital settings. Its operating features are software-controlled, so it allows customization of system operations in a fraction of the time required in the past, guaranteeing efficient adaptability and ensures operational changes and upgrades will be possible years after the initial installation.
