Robert Hawkins, MD, joined our medical staff in 2007. As medical director of Diagnostic Imaging at Whidbey General, Dr. Hawkins ensures that high standards of quality and safety are maintained for patients requiring services such as mammograms, ultrasounds, CT scans and MRIs. Dr. Hawkins works with other physicians, administration and nursing to support ongoing improvement in medical protocols, quality assurance and patient safety. He serves as our Radiation Safety Officer and sits on the Cancer Committee, a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, patient care and support staff that works to advance the best possible cancer treatment outcomes for patients and families.

Patient Care Philosophy
Develop, in consultation with the patient’s referring provider, an imaging plan to evaluate the patient’s condition in the safest and most effective manner.
Maintain high standards of diagnostic imaging quality for the residents of Whidbey Island.
Minimize the patient’s radiation exposure while still obtaining high-quality imaging studies.
Scope of Care
General radiology, including ultrasound, fluoroscopy, plain film radiography, computed tomography (CT scans), mammography, nuclear medicine imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Minimally invasive procedures, including breast biopsies and thyroid biopsies
